Lace Manufacturers Gain Through Exports

Lace manufacturers have been in the making of lace since 2000 B.C. Ancient Egyptian art depicts lace hairnets around 2,000 B.C. Ancient Babylonian and Assyrian costumes include knotted ornamental braiding and knotting. Lacy fabrics were used nearly 2,000 years ago.

By the Middle Ages, religious clothing and textiles included lace, as well as exquisite and expensive clothing from the fifteenth century until the early nineteenth century. Particularly complicated and expensive, clothing lace manufacturers catered to lace made by hand in the 1600s and 1700s. Laces made from fine Flemish linen were most highly prized and fortunes were spent on the acquisition of exquisite clothing laces.

Lace curtains are made by lace manufacturers either of polyester, cotton, or a combination of both fibers. When purchased by the spools, the yarn is generally purchased in 5 lb (2.3 kg) spools. The yarn is generally a beige or natural color; curtains to be sold in colors are dyed after they are knit.

Lace manufacturing took a faster turn with the advent of machines. Lace exports in the lace manufacturing countries have increased manifold due to this. Lace curtain design still generally begins with a sketch on paper. The design is then scanned onto the computer (Computer Aided Designing). Each scanned design is designated and sized for production on a specific piece of lace-making equipment as the machines vary in width and number of needles used per inch.

Lace making machines are a marvelous wonder by inventors that have made possible duplication of practically every pattern of lace made by hand. It is difficult for experts even to find any difference between machine made lace and hand made lace. The application of jacquard attachment to lace machines can weave such beautiful patterns that can beat the patterns made by deft fingers.

Lace manufactures have been having a steady increase in their revenues through exports now as this material has gained popularity. Considering the share lace exports have occupied in the whole exports market, this is a very lucrative business and has come to stay for a long time. Since, fashion and lace are inseparable, lace manufacturers can plan for a long term sustenance in this industry.
